"Ankh-Morpork, City of One Thousande Surprises" - the Merchants' Guild Proclaims. Most of those surprises are dangerous, if not lethal. The city used to run itself into the ground with high crime levels and little money. But now - thanks to Lord Vetinari's initiative and the greed of the people of the city - crime is organised by the Thieves' and Assassins' Guilds (make sure they don't go over your annual quota), the Merchants' have improved civic pride (sometimes rather forcefully) and even the Beggars are organised into a 'collection' of smells. The Seamstresses keep the lonelier members of society company while the Musicians' Guild (coming soon) happily and enthusiastically knee-caps unlicensed buskers! So here's your chance. You can become a part of one of those Guilds too - the more reputable ones anyway! So make your choice.
